Expressive Concertina Books with Kerrie Bowles

With lots of books to inspire in our exhibition in the gallery, this workshop explores the myriad of ways the humble concertina book can be used for creative exploration. We’ll begin the day by learning how to make concertina book forms and its variations, and discuss how these simple book forms can be used as a either a modest sketchbook or the beginning of something more. Discussion and guidance about which papers are best to use, how to cut paper, measuring, methods of joining papers, and so on, will all be discussed and demonstrated; as well as what tools and equipment you need to continue your bookmaking journey at home. We’ll be using printing, drawing, collage and mixed media as both a jumping off point for further work in your books, as a means to arrive at a completed book, or perhaps as the beginning of collaborative work with others. Join Kerrie to create expressive books and have fun along the way! Please note – there is an additional materials fee for this workshop. See below. Cost: $150.00 includes morning tea. There is a $10.00 materials fee for this workshop – this is payable on the day of the workshop, in cash, to your tutor.
